Variable Dimensions

2021

Homage to the Void.

In this series, I explore the idea of displacement, taking a piece of time and space to another location. I first create a large-format “Portal” to then insert it into a three-dimensional space and document it again, creating a crossing of temporalities and encapsulating a piece of time through matter. This displacement symbolizes the disruption of traditional experiences of time and space.

Whether intervening, re-contextualizing, or reinserting, I provide a kind of immortality to the work, not with the intention of ensuring a future, but rather to emphasize the persistence of the present.

The portal serves as a metaphor for the accelerated access and exchange of information, images, goods, and even bodies, which, in my view, characterizes the "physical" space in modernity. This series is inspired by the tension between the celebration of speed and access to new realities and dimensions, and the simultaneous concern for the disruption of traditional experiences of time and space, as well as the homogenization of places and the disappearance of cultural differences.
